We ask Rahul Jhaveri, Founder and CEO of Jhavtech Studios, six questions about being a business owner.
1. What did you study at RMIT and what attracted you to that program?
I studied an MBA in the city campus. I did it part-time while working at a non-for-profit business. Getting an MBA wasn’t initially part of my plan, but when I learned of the benefits through one of the RMIT expos, I leaned in.
2. What is your business all about?
Jhavtech prides itself on being “everything tech”. We have experience in building mobile apps, websites and providing web design consulting services to clients from a large variety of industries – like health, education, retail and startups.
3. Where do you see your business in 10 years’ time?
In 10 years I envision Jhavtech will be one of the leading tech partners in Australia. Building on our current experience, we anticipate exponential growth especially in the health and education industry.
4. How has studying at RMIT prepared you to run your business?
In many many ways – it has helped predominantly with my style of communication, building on my growth mindset and truly strategic thinking. I came into the program sceptical of what I would achieve, but finished the program getting a depth and breadth of information that I didn’t previously have – as well as a network of friends/connections that will last a lifetime!
5. What advice would you have offered yourself when you first started your business?
I would have told myself to stop sweating the small stuff. I always tried to get things “perfect” until I realised that perfection doesn’t exist. This initially caused a lot of delays in my “start” to Jhavtech, but having grown out of that mindset through the MBA program and years of experience, I have more of an MVP style tactic.
6. What’s your favourite type of App to work on?
I’m a bit of a cricket enthusiast – so my favourite app so far has been creating the Cricket Pulse Live app that is the first app in the world that provides live score updates for any cricket match going on around the world on your lock screen. In other words, you don’t have to get into the phone & app in order to get the score – it’s just there!
