We ask Satinder, Director and Principal Registered Migration Agent at Wings Migration Global Consultants Pty. Ltd., and RMIT alum, six questions about being a business owner.
1. What did you study at RMIT and what attracted you to that program?
I studied a Master of Business Information Technology (MBIT) and Master of Commerce from 2004 to 2006. This course allowed me to fulfil two years of academic study requirements. I was attracted to this course because it allowed me to learn both the technical and business aspects of the real world. This was a perfect blend and ticked all the boxes for me.
2. What is your business all about?
I am licensed to provide immigration assistance to any migrant looking to make Australia home. Australian migration law is one of the most complex in the world. My business assists people with various kinds of enquiries like skilled visas, student visas, partner visas, employer-sponsored visas and lot more. I also assist Australian employers with their sponsorship and nomination needs.
3. Where do you see your business in 10 years’ time?
I hope to have couple of branches in and outside Australia. Our vision is to be the global leader in facilitating seamless and successful migrations, where every individual’s journey to a new life is guided with expertise, care, and unwavering dedication.
4. How has studying at RMIT prepared you to run your business?
Studying at RMIT provided me with the fundamental structure and the know-how of running a successful business. My course helped me develop a better understanding of the technical complexities of running a business.
5. What advice would you have offered yourself when you first started your business?
Two quotes are very dear to me: “Rome was not built in a day” and “little knowledge is a dangerous thing”. When I started this business, I knew that I would need to persevere and keep myself updated with the current and most up to date information.
6. If you didn’t live in Australia, which country would you choose to live in?
Dubai, UAE.
