The project would require fundamental investigations at macro, micro and molecular levels. Modeling tools such as HSC Chemistry and ASPEN Plus will be used to identify most suitable low cost catalysts/minerals and to perform process modeling respectively. Experimental investigations will be carried out using a bench-scale experimental CVD rig to study the reaction mechanisms. Several advanced characterization methods (such as SEM-XRD, TEM, XRF, EDS, HNMR, BET etc.) will be employed to characterize the carbon nanofiber structures. For molecular level, understanding, DFT modeling will be employed.
