Dr Amanda Lawrence is an Australian researcher, librarian and project manager specialising in open knowledge systems, research communication and research infrastructure for the humanities and social sciences. In Juy 2024 she took up the role of Program Director, Australian Internet Observatory, a new collaborative National Research Infrastructure facility led by RMIT University. She is also an Affiliate at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society (ADM+S). Prior to this role Amanda was Research Fellow, Open Knowledge Systems at the School of Media and Communications at RMIT and the ADM+S Centre. She has extensive experience in running online platforms and cultural projects including 12 years as Director of Analysis & Policy Observatory (APO), an award-winning public policy digital library, where she secured a number of ARC LIEF grants and worked with many partner organisations in education and public policy. She also developed online platforms for the ARC Centre of Excellence for Creative Industries and Innovation and the CRC for Low Carbon Living. Other roles include Literature Program Manager at the Asialink Centre, and at Writers Victoria. Amanda is also a Senior Associate at Outside Opinion and was on the Board of Wikimedia Australia from 2020 - 2024.
