Dr Sinead Barry is a recognised mental health nursing researcher with a research focus on innovations in teaching and learning and ways to better support mental health nurses. She is a senior lecturer of Mental Health Nursing at RMIT University where she leads the Masters of Mental Health Nursing Program. She has published in international journals, books and conferences. She has a track record of leading national mental health qualitative research methods projects. Dr Sinead Barry has worked in a wide range of clinical mental health nursing roles including acute inpatient, community and parent infant units. She is also an experienced academic undertaking teaching in Australia, and Singapore.
Dr Sinead Barry is an experienced academic receiving a unvierstiy Teaching Award for her excellence in teaching. Sinead teaches across the Masters of Mental Health Nursing Program. She leads a team of expereinced mental health nurse academics and supports the integration of innovative teaching practices to support student learning.
Sinead's reserach interests are in qualitative research. She understakes research relating broadly to mental health nursing education, evaluating social support models in mental health nursing and academic teaching resources including gernerative AI. Sinead co-supervises post gradaute and PhD candidates using qualitative methodolgis across mental helath nursing and acute nursing research projects.
