A recipient of the esteemed 2012 Victoria Fellowship, Dr Kandare, is the Vice-Chancellor’s Senior Research Fellow based in the School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. He is an integral member of the , the Composite Materials Group and the research area. Dr Kandare’s research is focused on creating new, advanced high-performance composite materials using nanotechnology.
His research interests include among other things: self-assembly synthesis of nanostructured and layered metal hydroxides, intercalation chemistry, thermal resistive materials, thermo-mechanical modeling and molecular dynamics simulation of multiphase nanocomposite systems. Dr Kandare has broad knowledge and research expertise in the field of fibre/polymer nanocomposites having previously held research positions in this area of research in the Institute for Materials Research and Innovation (University of Bolton, UK) and the Chemistry Department (Marquette University, US).
He has published over 80 scientific articles including journals papers, peer-reviewed conference papers and book chapters. Dr Kandare is a HDR supervisor in composite materials engineering and lectures in Solid Mechanics & Materials 1.
