Seth Keen is an academic and media professional with decades of experience in film, video screen production, and digital media. As a Lecturer and Internship Coordinator in the RMIT Media Program, he connects students with industry opportunities and helps organisations use media technologies to tell visual stories. Seth's professional work includes documentaries, short films, experimental videos, interactive media, and software development. His projects consistently aim to share knowledge and create connections between research, communities, and audiences.

In teaching, Seth brings his industry experience to documentary and social video media studios and media-making courses. His approach emphasises career development and prepares students for professional challenges through practical, industry-connected pedagogy. His work in technological innovation and learning design has been recognised with school and faculty teaching awards.
His research focuses on documentary practice, digital innovation, and knowledge translation. Since 2012, he has collaborated on ARC Discovery projects with Human Geographers at the University of Melbourne to translate Indigenous knowledge systems and environmental sustainability research through documentary storytelling.
From 2017 to 2023, he extended his expanded documentary research into web and app software development. He led a project with Forest Fire Management Victoria, developing rapid response image-sharing software that improved planned burning safety and wildfire management. This interdisciplinary project combined research expertise with leading design companies to create practical emergency management solutions.
His co-design approach to media production has earned him recognition, including a national Good Design Award in Social Impact (2017) for an Indigenous Sovereignty project featuring a customised interactive video archive. Previous work includes collaborating with World Vision Australia to visualise development aid programs and increase transparency for donors through interactive online video content.
