Dr Hamid Arandiyan is a leader of the Critical Minerals for Clean Energy (CMCE) research group.
His research focuses on resource recovery for environmental remediation, energy applications, hydrometallurgy, solid-state chemistry, and mineralogy.
OVERVIEW
Dr Arandiyan’s academic career is distinguished by expertise that spans multi-, inter-, cross- and trans-disciplinary fields, reflecting a significant global impact. He has led as the Theme Leader for Critical Minerals and Interim Deputy Director at the Centre of Advanced Materials and Industrial Chemistry (CAMIC) within the STEM College.
He is/has been Chief Investigator on >$35M worth of research funding (ARC, ARENA, ICIRN, DCCEEW, ANN, Philanthropy, and Industry).
Prior to his appointment at RMIT in 2021, he was awarded a Senior Vice-Chancellor's Research Fellowship in the School of Chemistry at the University of Sydney in 2018 and a Vice-Chancellor's Research Fellowship in the School of Chemical Engineering at UNSW in 2015.
MAJOR RESEARCH INTERESTS
His research interests encompass heterogeneous catalysis, nanotechnology, functional materials, fundamental catalytic reaction mechanisms, chemical surface sciences, and industrial and minerals chemistry.

Dr. Hamid Arandiyan is a chemical engineer who was appointed as the Senior Industry Research Fellow for Resource Sector Critical Minerals at RMIT. He has fostered strong collaborations with the mineral and renewable energy sectors and catalytic environmental remediation industry in Australia and internationally.
PATENTS
He holds 4 patents, including an international patent (PCT/AU2023/051138) on Electrocatalysts-Hydrogen Production, which has significant implications for renewable energy sectors.
