Dr. Zaid Alqhaiwi is a Lecturer in Management and Leadership in the School of Management at RMIT University. His research interests include leadership, behavioural ethics and mindfulness.
Prior to joining RMIT University, Dr. Alqhaiwi worked as an academic at Monash University and Swinburne University of Technology, teaching management and leadership units at both postgraduate and undergraduate levels. He earned his PhD in Leadership from Swinburne University of Technology in Australia and completed a research-based MBA degree at Eastern Mediterranean University in North Cyprus. Indeed, Dr. Alqhaiwi's prior experience in the industry motivated him to pursue his MBA and PhD, driving him to develop research questions that critically assess the organisational literature. Particularly, recognising that leaders and employees are essential assets for organisations worldwide, he is deeply interested in how their emotions, thoughts, behaviours, and well-being contribute to organisational success. His area of interest specifically taps into the intersection of these topics, where he adopts a mixed-research approach to develop novel theoretical and practical insights that benefit both organisational decision-makers and employees, particularly in addressing existing workplace challenges and embracing new practices. Against this backdrop, his peer-reviewed work appears in international outlets such as the Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Business Research, and Public Management Review, among others. He has also presented his research at international conferences, such as the Academy of Management Conference.
