About

Dr. Syed M Nawazish Ali is working as a Research Fellow at RMIT University. His research interests include data analysis of public transportation electrification, electric vehicle drive control, electric vehicle battery degradation studies, optimization algorithms for battery health estimation, and impact of electric vehicles penetration on grid.

Dr. Syed M Nawazish Ali received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from University of Engineering & Technology (UET), Lahore and COMSATS University, Lahore, Pakistan in 2013 and 2016 respectively. He received his Ph.D. degree from Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia in 2022.

Before joining RMIT, he worked in different industries in Newcastle, Sydney, Canberra, and Brisbane mainly in the field of transportation electrification. He also worked as a visiting research scholar for a semester at the Department of Energy Technology, Aalborg University, Denmark in 2019.

Key activities:
- C4NET Project 66: Ventura Bus Zero Emission Bus Trial
- Research on degradation control of EV battery health

Awards:
- Postgraduate Research Fund grant along with the DVC Research Commendation at Macquarie University to conduct research activities in the USA (2020)
- Secured 1st position for oral research presentation at Higher Degree Research Conference, Macquarie University, Australia (2019)
- Secured International Research Training Program Scholarship (Commonwealth Government funded scholarship) for PhD at Macquarie University, Australia (2017)
- Award of laptop and accessories under the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme to Talented Students in Punjab, Pakistan (2016)
- Secured 1st position in the batch of FA14-MSEE in Master of Science in Electrical Engineering at COMSATS University, Pakistan (2016)
- Secured the academic KAKEZAI Scholarship at University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, Pakistan (2011-13)
